We have a selection of zonal, ivy, and the new interspecific geraniums. Zonal geraniums are the classic bedding or container plant and get their name from the “zoned” leaf markings. They have an upright, mounding habit, typically 1-2 feet tall. We switched to a new improved variety of zonal geraniums called Maestro. Ivy geraniums have ivy shaped leaves with a graceful trailing habit. They are popular for hanging baskets, window boxes, and containers. They have smaller, looser flowers. We changed our ivy geranium variety to Global. Interspecific geraniums are a new improved geraniums created from a cross between zonal and ivy geraniums. They are said to offer more vigor, drought tolerance, and bloom all summer. We are growing a selection of the Caliente and Calliope series. They were a big hit last year! Calliope has zonal type flowers while Caliente has ivy-shaped leaves and offer even more protection against the worst heat. Martha Washington (Regal) geraniums are some of the showiest geraniums with colorful large openfaced bloom clusters. They can be grown as houseplants during the winter. Scented geraniums are grown for their scents. They also have smaller delicate flowers and unusual leaves.
